Family-owned and operated Puna Chocolate Company is proud to employ local farmers here in Hawaii. Our cacao is 100% sourced from Big Island-grown cocoa beans. Our mission is to have Big Island, particularly Puna District, lead the world in quality cacao beans in the same way the Kona District has done with superior coffee beans.
Another goal of Puna Chocolate Company is to innovate and foster diverse cultivation and post-harvest processes in order to ensure diversity in cacao and chocolate flavor but also to keep the barriers to entry low so chocolate production is accessible to any local farmer. In almost every other fine food category, processes and equipment are artificially imposed on producers to signify quality but are actually there to make production too expensive for new entrants or innovation. We accept anyone and encourage new ways to bring tasty chocolate from Hawaii to the world. Just good chocolate!
